How Long Does Therapy Take?

There is no fixed length. Some clients work with me for a few months, others for a year or more. It depends on what you are working through, how deep the issues go, and what you want to achieve. We review progress together and the decision to end is always yours.

Therapy is not a quick fix, and I do not offer time-limited programmes or set numbers of sessions. I work on an open-ended basis because the issues I specialise in , trauma, abuse, coercive control , are rarely resolved in six or twelve sessions. That said, you are not locked in. You can end therapy at any time. We will regularly check in about how the work is going and whether it still feels useful. If we reach a natural ending point, we will work toward a planned ending that gives you time to consolidate what you have gained. The initial assessment (up to 90 minutes) gives us both a sense of what you want to work on and how therapy might help. From there, we meet weekly for 50-minute sessions.

If you are unsure whether therapy is a big commitment, a free introductory call can help you understand what is involved before you decide.
