What Is Trauma Processing?
Trauma processing is the therapeutic work of making sense of traumatic experiences so they no longer control your emotional responses, relationships, and daily life. It is not about reliving the trauma. It is about integrating it , reaching a point where the past is something that happened to you, not something that is still happening inside you.
When a traumatic experience is unprocessed, it can stay active in your nervous system and your emotional responses. You may find yourself reacting to present-day situations as though the threat is still there, or avoiding anything that reminds you of what happened. Processing does not erase the memory. It changes your relationship to it. In my practice, trauma processing happens within the safety of the therapeutic relationship. I do not use structured protocols like EMDR or CBT. I work integratively , using the relationship between us, and your growing understanding of your own patterns, as the foundation for change. The pace is always yours.
