Work Related Stress

Work related stress is not only about workload. It is often about who holds the power in a workplace, whose voice counts, and what happens when something goes wrong.

I work with adults experiencing chronic work related stress, including difficult team dynamics, power imbalances, unclear expectations, and the cumulative impact of working in environments that are not psychologically safe. Sessions are online via Google Meet, weekly, 50 minutes.

More than a heavy workload

Some work stress is straightforward. Too much to do, not enough time. We can often talk our way to a plan and feel better.

The stress I see more often in the therapy room is different. It sits in the body long after the working day ends. It is tangled up with loyalty, fear, self-doubt, and the sense that speaking up would make things worse. It can erode sleep, appetite, relationships, and a sense of competence that felt solid before.

Where work stress meets wider harm

Work related stress can overlap with workplace discrimination, bullying, institutional betrayal, and coercive patterns inside an organisation. When that is the case, we name it as such. Therapy does not replace a formal grievance process, legal advice, or HR support, but it can help you think clearly about what is happening and what you want to do about it.

I am not a workplace mediator or an employment lawyer. My role is to support you, your health, and your understanding of your experience.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the right kind of therapy if I am signed off work?

It can be. Many clients come to me while signed off or considering time away. We focus on your experience and recovery, not on getting you back to your desk.

Can therapy help me decide whether to leave?

Therapy is not advice giving. It is a space to think clearly, feel honestly, and come to your own decision. People often leave therapy with more clarity about what they want, even when the work did not set out to produce a decision.

Do you work with people in all sectors?

Yes. My clients have come from corporate, public sector, third sector, creative, and academic backgrounds. What matters is your experience, not your industry.

Will what I say stay confidential?

Yes, within the usual ethical limits set out in my Confidentiality page. Nothing you share is fed back to your employer. Therapy notes are kept encrypted and to a minimum.
